Fliptoons: Season 2 is exactly like season 1 but with different animals, cards, abilities, and combinations. Overall, I like season 2 more than season 1 because the card interactions seem to be more powerful and more exciting.

In terms of a standalone expansion, this one is great. It’s fun on its own but things get really wild (in a good way) when you mix it with season 1. Playing with both seasons is super easy – you just add two additional spots to the market. The only other major change is just the sheer number of cards and the decreased likelihood of getting multiples of one type of card.

The solo mode is exactly the same but there are also instructions on how to combine both seasons and play solo. After playing both seasons individually and then throwing them together for a few games, playing solo with both is humorously crazy. There are so many cards and combinations that are really fun to explore. Each game will always be unique, and you really never know which card will be drawn next.

As with any of these types of games, luck is definitely a factor, and I’d say even more so when combining the seasons, but the game is so quick and easy and the mechanics are rooted in luck, so it doesn’t bother me much in this game.

And, as it was with season 1, the art is wonderfully charming.

If you like season 1, this is almost identical but with varying cards and abilities. If you think season 1 needs more variety, this is a good solution. If you just want to play it by itself and not even worry about mixing with season 1, it’s also good for that. There’s certainly not a need for season 2 if you have season 1, but I’ve really enjoyed experiencing more Fliptoons.
